Surprise Cross Country

Greg surprised me today with a Cross Country over to Deenthorpe near Corby.

After the last lesson, I’d purchased a copy of SkyDemon for tracking my flights, but completely forgot to turn it on, until we were already airborne and en-route.

Initially we’d said in the pre-flight brief that we’d fly past the East side of Grafham Water, however just as we took off we got a radio call from Gransden Lodger glider site that they were using the deadside of EGMJ so we fly on past St Neots to avoid and up the West side instead.

As we flew towards Grafham Water, this triggered my first alarm on SkyDemon, as there is a Gas Venting site, surface to 2800ft.

Our intended route and actual route from SkyDemon.
