About Me

Hi,

My name is Andy Brockhurst, some people may also know me as “Bob”.

I’m a 50 something Software Engineer (that’ll do as a description, honest), living in Stevenage, Herfordshire, UK with my wife and teenage son.

At school I’d been in the RAF Air Cadets, mainly so I could continue shooting, but found I enjoyed the flying as well. I’d done about 10-15hrs of flying with the cadets in Chipmunks, but mostly we did aerobats rather than proper flying lessons.

Back in 1992 I very nearly joined the RAF, and went through Officer Selection at RAF Biggin Hill. I was offered a commission, were I to graduate, however that never happened.

I never flew again, and thought I never would being fairly short-sighted and colour-blind (red/green).

I recently discovered, when my family bought me a christmas present, that actually under newer CAA guidelines, as long as you are fit to drive a car, you can self-assess and fly.

So I booked some lessons, and off I went.

This is the documentation of my flying history, more for personal record keeping and musing, but if you happen to stumble across it…
